OUR HISTORY
The earliest appointed missionaries by the Assemblies of God (AG) to Fiji were Albert Towart Page and Love Lou Page. During their transit through the Fiji islands on their way to Australia in February 1913, God called them to become missionaries. They answered God’s call in the same year, arriving in Fiji in May 1913. They were officially recognized as AG missionaries on November 6th, 1917. Upon gaining recognition as official AG missionaries, their previous work as missionaries was acknowledged. Between the years of 1917 to 1920, several ladies served as appointed and ordained missionaries in Fiji. Among them are Pearl May Hewitt, Maria Olivia Boklund, and Alma E. Starkenberg. After their ministry, there was no other AG missionary in Fiji for six years until the arrival of Adrian and Charlotte Heetebry in 1926.

Since little was known of the previous missionaries, Rev. Adrian and Charlotte Heetebry were known as the pioneer missionaries to Fiji. Thirty-three years after the arrival of the Heetebrys, The Assemblies of God of Fiji was established (April 21, 1959). Rev. Adrian M. Heetebry was elected the first Superintendent of the Assemblies of God of Fiji. Four other members were chosen to make up the central committee that would lead the National Church. These were Rev. Alipate M. Cakau, Assistant Superintendent; Rev. Walter S. Prasad; Rev. Lima Bentley; and Rev. Joseph Holmes. Since then the Assemblies of God of Fiji has grown, impacting it’s nation and many other nations by reaching people with the Gospel, training preachers, and sending missionaries.
